Gahh!
I was lucid dreaming, which almost never happens!
And right when it was getting super awesome somebody honked a car horn outside!
Smoothies
I’ve been making use of my blender to make smoothies. To date, the best (and most diverse) one has been the one with:
A banana
2 big strawberries
a handful of blueberries
a small handful of raspberries
a few dollops of (unflavored) Greek yogurt
a fistful of baby spinach
The spinach didn’t ruin the taste, and it was (very, almost too) sweet. Recommended.
The Beach Boys
Brian Wilson’s childhood was pretty freaked up!
“Murry [Wilson] would repay Brian[ Wilson]’s mild subordinations by removing his artificial eyeball, grabbing a sobbing Brian by the scruff of the neck, and forcing him to peer at the mangled interior of his father’s empty eye socket.”
Well
I have to make an addendum to my movie list (I’ll put it on next year’s list too, but at present I’d recommend that you see it in the theater if you can):
The Artist:
It is strange, since this movie made me nostalgic—but not for the 1920s and 30s (I’m not insane). The last time I watched any silent or Fred Astaire movies was in high school. It brought me back to Mr....
Movies 2011
I might as well do what I did last year and round up the movies that I saw this year. I’ll comment on each with about three sentences or less, unless I really liked it or I decide arbitrarily to break the rule.
Here is the list of the movies I saw released in 2011. The list goes by release date, which is pretty close to the order in which I saw them, with a few exceptions.
For comparison, this...
Dear my apartment,
why do you have the heat off on the coldest day of the (beginning of the) year?

Merry Christmas.
This movie takes place starting at 10 PM on Christmas Eve night.
Finals studying
I’m studying for my last final. Maybe my last final ever.
Here’s a study trip you might try, it is working at exactly this moment for me, so, you know, anecdotally, it worked…one time…for one person…ever. At least, I mean.
Anyway: get a book or a movie and watch 8 minutes or read 8 paragraphs. Then do the equal amount in your book or study guide (or in my case,...

Here's some true stuff and then some opinions
I don’t know if other people do this but I do it obsessively.
Whenever I find out about some new success or new talent in pretty much any area of expertise, I immediately look up their age. If they’re younger than me, I’ve “failed.”
The most recent example was breezing through the Wikipedia entry for an author named Zadie Smith and finding out she’d written...

While doing homework I was listening to music
and I hate it when people display song lyrics without context or introduction. Anyway, I was listening to a song by The Silver Jews called “We are Real” and I found this lyric to be pretty fun:
“My ski vest has buttons like convenience store mirrors and they help me see, that everything in this room right now is a part of me.”
I’m not sure what the deeper meaning...

Son of a--
Well, I’ve just awakened from a night where I had two dreams, in succession, where in one I fell in love with a completely fictional person (and now I “miss” her) and where in the other I won a race with a seven-figure cash prize, to the cheering of a whole stadium of people. I think I have exhausted my good dream quota for pretty much the year.
Beach Trip 2011.
I chose the song because the string instrument bowing matched much of the shaky camerawork.

Well everybody, if it turns out that The Hunger Games movies are the next Twilight, then I’m a Twi-hard. Or a Hung-hard. Point is that if the movie is cheesy, it isn’t the the books’ fault, because they were actually pretty awesome.

Good Lord I need to learn to stick to beer.
Remember you can have fun; tonight was the funnest night of the summer. Please remember that you’re worth something, you can be someone good, and valuable, please.
Okayyyyyyyyy
Wow, everybody. I’m pretty impressed with the turnout on my entry requesting one-minute scripts.
Oh wait no I’m not. With the exception of Joe, nobody sent anything in.
I’d like to make it clear that I don’t care if what you send in is stupid or offensive. In fact, I’d almost encourage it, since I would have to figure out a way to make it watchable. I know that...
